By attitude, mindset or life-view means how you view your
life; your opinion on how to approach life. The only thing you need to make
your life beautiful is the right attitude. When the attitude is right, the rest
follows automatically. To open a lock you need the right key. Similarly, to
open the door to life's possibilities, you need the right attitude.
The brain is the architect of reality. To use your brain in
the best possible way, you need mental preparation. Attitude or intention is
the basis of this preparation. Because the mind is guided by attitude or
intention. And the brain is guided by the mind.
After years of research, scientists such as Dr. Allan
Goldstein, Dr. John Motil, Dr. Wilder Penfield and Dr. E. Roy John have
concluded that the relationship between the brain and the mind is like the
relationship between the hardware and software of a computer. The brain works
according to the program given by the mind.
When the mind gives new beliefs and ideas, new dendrites are
created in the brain. New synapses or connecting paths between the neurons are
created. As a result, the working structure of the brain changes. The brain
then presents a new reality in the light of the new attitude.
Scientists say our attitude or mindset can be of two types.
1. Pro-active.
2. Reactive.
Being proactive means being in control of yourself. It means
deciding your course of action in the light of your values and goals and not as
a reaction to someone or something. It means being cool and level headed under
all circumstances. Being proactive also means being positive and optimistic. It
means starting with what you have instead of waiting for what you don't have.
On the other hand being reactive means ceasing your control
to others. When you let others make you hurt or angry, you let their flattery
melt you or their criticisms disappoint you, you are being reactive.
Proactive attitude always brings success and reactive
attitude brings failure. So if you want to be successful nurture a proactive
attitude.
